This spring we have a new competition in mental calculation!
The event will be held on the 12th May 2018 (2pm – 5pm)
It will be held in Dubai (Children’s City, Gate 1, Creekside Park – Al Riyadh St)
Applications are accepted until 20th April 2018
Entrance fee is 100 AED (about $27 USD)
The competition is open to all ages, and will be split into 3 age categories (under-12s, under-16s, and adults). The competition will consist of three parts:
Dubai International Challenge
This is the main event, and will last two and a half hours, including standard events and some surprise categories. The surprises are the only questions that will vary between the age groups. The standard questions will be in a format familiar from the Mental Calculation World Championships and can be practised using the Pegasus Excel software available on this website. The surprise questions are designed to test the competitors’ creativity.
Calendar Dates Challenge
This Challenge will be in two parts. For the first, you have 1 minute to answer as many questions as possible in the format “30 03 2018”.
The second will a greater variety of questions, such as “when was the 3rd Thursday in June 1864?”, and a six minutes time limit (these questions may be answered in any order). The percentage score from each round will be recorded, and the highest total of these two percentages will win.
